Britwell – November 2022

30 November 2022

The Britwell Youth and Community Project (BYCP) is delighted to have received a special tree from The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) ‘Tree of Trees’, which stands tall as a message of hope, regeneration and optimism to the nation and the world as part of the Platinum Jubilee weekend celebrations.

BYCP is only one of four organisations across Berkshire and over 300 organisations from across the UK who were recently announced by the QGC as recipients of these special trees in the late Queen’s name, which were gifted in a pot embossed with Her Majesty’s cypher.

Paula Murphy, Centre Manager, said: ‘’It is a great honour to be recognised by Her Majesty for the work that we do here for young people in Britwell. To find out that we were only one of four organisations across Berkshire to be gifted this tree is truly amazing and makes the work that we do feel even more special.’’

Presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire, James Puxley on Thursday 17 November 2022 at the BYCP premises, the tree becomes a part of a living legacy in honour of Her Majesty, joining over a million trees planted across the UK as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy.

BYCP has worked within the Britwell ward of Slough since 1959. The project provides a range of leisurely activities including; sports, arts and crafts, music production, gaming etc for young people (ages 8+ and up to 25 with disability) afterschool two evenings a week and during the school holiday period, in order to develop their physical, mental and spiritual capacities so that they may grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society.

Thank you so much for giving us this brilliant update, Qudsia!
