CEO’s Thoughts (March Newsletter)
31 March 2022
Welcome to our March newsletter.
It’s been another busy and exciting month at Berkshire Youth!
Firstly, I would like to welcome our new Chair Designate, Greg Wilkinson, to our Board of Trustees. We are really thrilled to have Greg on board, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his career in Policing and his various voluntary roles. It will be sad to say goodbye to Jim Leftwich, however, who has served our charity so well over the past 40 years. It’s given us the perfect opportunity to reflect on all of the achievements and challenges faced by both Jim and Berkshire Youth during this time, and you can read more about this here.
I wrote last month about my deep concerns about the government’s ‘Levelling Up’ plans. I was delighted to be able to raise this issue with an even wider audience this month, as we appeared on the BBC South Politics programme on 13 March which you can watch again on our YouTube channel here.
We do not share our news for our own egos, but instead to raise the important issues which affect our local young people, advocating for them and what we believe they should be entitled to as they mature into young adults. Central to our philosophy is listening and responding to young people’s issues and concerns, ensuring that our work is as relevant as it can be, feeding into our priorities.
Please remember to keep supporting our vital fundraising for voting for us on the Asda website – you can also vote for Britwell Youth & Community Project on this site, by selecting the Slough store. Additionally, you can vote for us in various Tesco stores across West Berkshire. Every penny we receive will be spent on supporting our local young people, and is really needed during this critical time.
Read our newsletter to learn more about our other activities, including awards nominations and work our youth workers have been doing.
Have a great month!
