DofE Gold Award Celebration

25 May 2023

A Gold Award celebration event was held in the Buckingham Palace Garden on Monday 15 May. Over 2,000 young people from across the UK were in attendance, of which were two Gold Award participants from Berkshire Youth.

To achieve their Gold Awards, both Leah (pictured) and Daisy have completed all five sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills, Expedition and Residential.

Leah said ‘It was a great experience to attend the event at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the completion of my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. At the event, I had the opportunity to listen to guest speakers such as Ade Adepitan (a Paralympic basketball player) and Jermaine Jenas (ex-football player for Nottingham Forrest and The One Show Host) as well as a speech from the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward. Overall it was a great day out exploring the gardens of the palace and meeting others who had also been on incredible adventures over the course of their own DofE journeys.
