James Joins the Team

28 June 2021

We are delighted to welcome James Frost to our team as our new Business Support Intern at the Waterside Centre. James is a 21-year-old BA Business and Management Graduate from Henley Business School, University of Reading. He is also the Chair and Partnerships officer at Wiltshire FA Youth Council, providing a voice for young grassroot footballers across the county, including volunteering at grassroot football tournaments and events.

James tells us more about what attracted him to apply to work for Berkshire Youth: “The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has emphasised the negative psychological and societal effects that school closures have had on young people in terms of social isolation, less physical activity, and interrupted learning, particularly among those from disadvantaged backgrounds. As we finally emerge from the COVID-19 lockdowns, inspiring young people to re-engage in sport and leisure is essential. This has amplified the pivotal role that youth support services, such as Berkshire Youth, play in supporting young individuals through the provision of fun and engaging activities/events that provide opportunities for young people to enjoy being physically active in a social, inclusive environment.

“As Business Support Intern, I look forward to helping Berkshire Youth create an exciting and engaging community offer for young people at the Waterside Centre in Newbury, in collaboration with other Berkshire Youth hubs across the county.”

James brings with him heaps of enthusiasm and bags of ideas and we are thrilled that he’s decided to work at the Waterside Centre this summer.
