Mental Health Awareness Week 2023

18 May 2023

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, with this year’s focus on anxiety.

We caught up with Sarah, our Chief Executive, after her trip to London yesterday:

“Today I had the pleasure of attending the UK Youth Spring Summit and AGM in London and it’s also Mental Health Awareness week. I spent my train journey reflecting on how this affects me and what self care steps am I taking. As a CEO, mum, wife, daughter, friend my life can seem increasingly complicated and I am not best in taking time to prioritise myself and my own needs. Today I consciously made time for myself. I walked from Waterloo to Covent Garden for my meeting… taking in the sights and hustle a bustle. A time to decompress from the mental load and just be. Mental fitness, like physical fitness, is a journey. I’m not expecting to run a marathon overnight… however, it only starts when you take the first step.”

Mental health isn’t just for one week of the year, and we have links to support services at the Berkshire Youth Hubs.

Also, check out the mental health training courses to support young people that we’re currently running at Waterside Centre.
