Purley Scouts Visit

30 September 2021

Earlier this month our youth workers, Kelly and Jessica, met up with Purley Explorers.

They told the Explorers about the Kit out the Nation initiative we are supporting BBC Radio Berkshire with, calling for good quality sports kit to be donated at the Waterside Centre in Newbury.

Sport in Mind were also at the Explorers session and spoke to the young people about the link between sport and good mental health. They spoke to the young people about sport and why it is important to them, asking them to think of the positive benefits they get from sport and to think about barriers that may stop people from accessing sport.

As a result of the visit, the Explorers have agreed to collect some equipment for us and are asking their friends and families to help out too!

Jessica and Kelly will return to the Explorers group in a couple of weeks’ time to pick up all of the equipment that they have collected.

Thank you to everyone involved, we are really grateful for your support!
