Supporter Focus

30 January 2023

This month we would like to thank two super supporters for their hard work: Newbury Athletic Club (Newbury 10k) and Micro Focus.

Newbury 10k
We are thrilled that all of the proceeds from this year’s excellent event will be donated to us.

They said: “It was really difficult to choose our charity partner this year – there are so many organisations doing amazing work in our community, and we recognise times are tough for them and their user bases. However Berkshire Youth’s focus on identifying and developing the potential in young people through the provision of a varied menu of activities, as well as the Waterside Centre‘s close proximity to the race itself, made it a standout choice and there were clear synergies with the aims of Newbury Athletic Club. We really hope that this is a great opportunity to boost their profile as well as raise funds, but we look forward to our runners taking this chance to support charities of their choice too.”

We encourage everyone to sign up for the Newbury 10k, which is being held on Monday 29 May – the first Newbury 10k for four years! Please visit their website to read more.

Micro Focus
Staff from Micro Focus came to Waterside Centre just before Christmas to wrap and pack surprise gift bags for Waterside Community Larder members.

Each gift bag was packed with beautifully-wrapped treats, including fleece throws, chocolates and crackers.

Ailie, Waterside Centre Manager, said: It was so emotional… an amazing atmosphere. Every member was genuinely taken aback and unbelievably grateful. There were lots of hugs and tears of happiness!”

Thank you ever so much to everyone who supports us – every penny you donate and every minute you spend volunteering with us enhances the lives of Berkshire’s young people and lets them know that others value and care for them.
