Supporter Focus – Pangbourne Youth FC

15 February 2022

Thank you to Amy at Pangbourne Youth FC for sharing with us what a great time their young people had at the Reading FC match on Saturday!

What an afternoon the Pangbourne Youth FC had at the Select Car Leasing Stadium! A small selection of players had the opportunity of a lifetime with being able to take part in penalties at half time during the Reading v Coventry game on Saturday 12 February.

Players were nervous and excited whilst they eagerly awaited their opportunity in the tunnel before heading out onto the pitch.

“It was nerve wracking at the start, but then with each penalty I took it got more and more familiar and easy. It was very exciting. I loved being on the pitch! Thank you!” – Wilf, U11s.

Some of the players took it in turns to play in goal whilst the remaining players lined up at the side of the pitch awaiting their turn to take a penalty. The players took all this in their stride whilst thousands of fans looked on from their seats. There were plenty of skills shown and the players really made their club proud!

“I was nervous because it was so big and loud, but it was a lot of fun!” – Jessica, U9s.

Team fundraising lead Amy said: “What an amazing opportunity for our players, they loved being involved and it was great to see them enjoy themselves. There were lots of nerves at firs but once they got into it, you could see they were doing what they love – playing football!

I want to thank Tom Holmes of Reading FC and Julie at Berkshire Youth for arranging this opportunity for our players – it has certainly created memories for them!”

Pangbourne Youth FC are continuing to raise funds for Berkshire Youth this season and have several fun activities coming up for different teams. Follow their progress on their socials.
