As we near the end of Amber’s one-month internship with Berkshire Youth, we caught up with her to learn more about her time with us:

“During my internship at Berkshire Youth, I had the privilege of engaging in a wide array of tasks and projects that provided valuable learning opportunities. One of my primary responsibilities was to create captivating content and visuals for promotional materials across various social media platforms, both in print and digital formats. This involved refreshing the frequently used designs on our social media profiles, collaborating with videographers to produce a walkthrough video of Waterside Centre, and creating promotional material for our facilities at Waterside.

“To enhance the promotional materials further, I conducted interviews with young people on our programmes, gaining first-hand insights into the positive outcomes that result from investing in youth. This added a more personal insight in the direct work of Berkshire Youth and was a joy to have these conversations brought to life through video for others to see!

“Additionally, another significant part of my internship involved supporting the operational aspects of fundraising activities and business events such the Waterside Coronation Celebration, the Annual Youth Work Conference, and the Newbury 10k. I undertook a project that involved exploring potential partnerships with local supermarkets. This experience allowed me to delve deeper into the significant influence of community support. By establishing connections with the wider community, we could enhance the impact of Berkshire Youth’s initiatives and further contribute to the betterment of the community.

“I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to shadow Julie MacLean, whose unwavering support and guidance have been invaluable. Her expertise and mentorship have been consistently uplifting, as have the interactions with every single person I’ve encountered at Berkshire Youth. As I reflect on the conclusion of my internship, I feel a sense of sadness, as it has been an incredibly rewarding journey and one that I am very grateful for.”

Thank you so much, Amber, you’ve been a brilliant addition to the team and have done some wonderful work!
