Tom Holmes Visits ‘Kicks’ Session (Tilehurst Parish Council Update)

30 January 2023

A brilliant update from youth worker Jessica!

Tom Holmes Visits Tilehurst ‘Kicks’ Session
We were really lucky to have Tom Holmes from Reading Football Club come and visit one of our sessions recently!! Tom stayed for the whole session and young people loved speaking to him and having photos. They talked through some tactics for upcoming games and wished Tom and Reading Football Club good luck in these fixtures.

A whole hour of football was played at the session, with young people mixing up teams and working together to battle it out for the win! They ended the session with a penalty shoot out to decide the winner of the match, which was tense. The young people have also expressed interest in attending a Reading Football Club match as a group and maybe even take some penalties at half time if this can be arranged!

The group would like to thank Tom Holmes for coming to visit them and inspiring them through football.

Tilehurst ‘Kicks’ Sessions
Sessions are also back up and running at Cotswold Sports Centre for the Reading Football Club Community Trust ‘Kicks’ sessions. These have been popular with young people, but there are still spaces available. Join us every Thursday in term time, 4 – 5pm at Cotswold Sports Centre, RG31 6SL.

We would like to thank Cotswold Sport Centre for their continued support in allowing us to run these sessions. Sessions are for young people in school years 7-9, they do not need to come in football kit, but PE-style clothing is recommended. They will also need a water bottle.

To book, please fill in the form in this link.

Tilehurst Youth Club
Tilehurst Youth Club is back for the new year! Sessions started back on Thursday 12 January, 6.30 – 8.30pm. We have lots planned for the youth club this half term, including: cooking, elephant football, arts and crafts, board games, slime making and a scrap material fashion show.
