Training Update

Thank you to Karen, our Training and Volunteer Manager, for this update.

We highly recommend that all staff who work with young people participate in a selection of general courses to keep you and the young people safe.

11 May – Emergency First Aid at Work -the qualification is valid for three years – 9am – 5pm
This is an accredited first aid course for the workplace. It is the basic requirement for nominated first aiders: What is first aid, legislation, responsibilities, action in an emergency, primary survey, secondary assessment, the respiratory system, resuscitation and AED, disorders of respiration, disorders of circulation, wounds and bleeding, seizures, minor burns and scalds, foreign objects. Additional subjects can be added based on the needs of the group.

First aid is one of the most useful skills you can learn not only for your job but to help protect your loved ones. It is the one skill we all need but hope we never need to use.

Open to anyone over the age of 14. (Anyone over 16 can be a nominated first aider at work.)

25 May – Universal Safeguarding Children and Young People – 6.30 – 9.30pm

10 June – Youth Mental Health First Aid – 9am – 4.30pm
This level 2 qualification has been designed with children and young people in mind. It covers areas such as depression, self-harm, eating disorders and bullying. It will provide the knowledge and skill to identify a potential mental health condition, start a conversation and provide support and guidance to professional help.

14 June – Equality, Diversity and Inclusion – 6.30 – 9.30pm
This month we will also be running a number of courses to support new and experienced youth workers, to improve their understanding, skills and practice. If you would like more information on these courses please contact Karen on 07881 941 343.
