Berkshire Youth Appoints New Trustees

5 July 2023

We’re delighted to announce the appointment of three new trustees to our board, with immediate effect: Gillian May, Beata Felmer and Alan Law.

  • Gillian May is the Chief Executive of Windsor Forest Colleges and an experienced leader, having held senior roles in both education and industry.

  • Beata Felmer was the Group Director of Finance & Resource of the AIM Academies Trust and a qualified accountant (FCCA) who has held several board and finance leadership roles in the commercial, education and not-for-profit sectors.

  • Alan Law is a retired West Berkshire Councillor and former Chair of the Planning Committee who has over 30 years’ senior leadership experience in high tech industries.

Sarah Atkinson, Chair of the Board of Trustees, said: “We are delighted to welcome Gillian, Beata, and Alan to Berkshire Youth. Their range of skills and experience further strengthens our board in many areas. Young people need us now more than ever. We have to continue to evolve our services and offerings as well as better engage local organisations and the business community to further support young people, their families and communities in Berkshire. Everyone has a role to play in helping young people today.”

Maidenhead based Gillian May said: “The life changing work that the charity undertakes day in and day out has never been more relevant than it is today. I am excited for the next chapter.”

Beata Felmer, who is also based in Maidenhead, said: “I hope to use my experience to support Berkshire Youth to help it reach more young people to enrich their lives.”

Alan Law, who is based in West Berkshire, commented: “I am excited to embark upon my third career within the voluntary sector as a Trustee of Berkshire Youth. I am a firm believer in supporting and encouraging all young people to maximise their potential, whether that be via education, work or other experiences such as sport or music.”

Chief Executive, Sarah Emery, added: “This is a very exciting time for Berkshire Youth and I am in no doubt that the new trustees’ expertise and enthusiasm will help us to continue to develop our organisation over the next few years, ensuring we progress our offer to young people and communities across Berkshire.”
