Waterside Centre receives £400,000 National Lottery Boost

6 April 2022

We are celebrating after being awarded £400,000 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.

We will use this funding to support a wide range of activities for young people and the wider community at the recently-renovated Waterside Centre in the heart of Newbury.

This new National Lottery funding will enable us to support local young people, particularly those who are vulnerable of disadvantaged. The money will be used to provide young people with the opportunity to take part in high quality leisure time activities which enhance their lives, helping them to grow and develop as individuals and members of the community.

National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.

David Seward said: “Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can offer more local young people the chance to take part in exciting, enriching activities, such as paddlesports, climbing and holiday clubs. This will make a big difference to their lives.”

During the pandemic, in 2020 alone, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1 billion to charities and community organisations across the UK.
