CEO’s Thoughts (November Newsletter)

30 November 2022

It’s exactly 17 years ago this month that I started at Berkshire Youth, and now I find myself writing the newsletter as CEO! So much has changed during my time at Berkshire Youth, yet so much is still the same. We are still battling for funding, for more support for young people (find out some of the ways you can support us here), we continue to run amazing opportunities for young people such as the recent Youth Music Night at Waterside Centre  and support our local communities to deliver youth provision (in Tilehurst, at The Wayz and Britwell).

The biggest change is David moving on. David has been steadfast during my time at Berkshire Youth; an advocate for young people and championing communities, as well as statutory partners, to come together to do more and do it better for young people. I know I am not the only one who wants to thank David wholeheartedly for his dedication and commitment to Berkshire Youth and the young people in our communities. We are in a better place for having his leadership over the last 22 years.

We are fortunate that David is staying close by to support us with the changes down the road. This change, makes me reflect on the newer things we have at Berkshire Youth that were not here 17 years ago… We have some amazing new staff (including Sasha), new projects (including Lambourn Youth Junction) and new partnerships such as Thames Water, all working together to create new and exciting opportunities for young people.

As we look forward, I am excited to have you as a supporter for Berkshire Youth and the young people in our communities. Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to the new times ahead.

Sarah
