Berkshire Youth offers a wide range of training and CPD opportunities for those working with young people. From introductory training to accredited training, this section will help find you the right training opportunity for your needs. All the training we offer falls within our comprehensive training framework which is underpinned by the National Occupational Standards and the Youth Work National Curriculum and reflects the skill sets required by youth workers.
All of the courses below are aimed at equipping those working with young people to feel more confident in their roles in order to provide greater services and opportunities for young people. Our affordable and accessible training programme is heavily subsidised for our affiliated members and we also offer preferential rates for local partners including schools and charities. The majority of our courses can be offered as a bespoke course to your organisation alongside our annual training calendar.
Our training aims to:
- Ensure Berkshire has a competent and confident workforce that is able to deliver quality services for young people
- Create a culture of learning that is responsive to the needs of young people
- Make training accessible and cost effective for all individuals and organisations
We believe that all youth workers should undertake the following training within their induction period:
- Generalist Safeguarding
- Equality and Diversity
- Youth Work Skills
- Values and Principles of Youth Work
